Singing Again

"We had VCRs for a while, but then we noticed the children weren’t singing. They weren’t playing and running and making up songs. They wanted to put in a tape and sit in front of the TV. So we locked up the VCRs. Now the children are singing again."
(Christopher Arnold, an elder in a Bruderhof community)

Don't get too personal with all this 'consumerism'! -- I like to apply it to other people, but would like to think I am not one of 'them'.
As far as kids and screen (TV, movies, games, computer etc) I really am glad that we had none of them when you were growing up. Instead we brought home big cardboard boxes of books from the library. And look how well you turned out -- only I still don't hear you singing (not sure what it did for your taste in singins -- Bob Dylan?)

I'm glad about that too - i think it helped me to become a bit more creative than i otherwise might have been. But then, Kendra grew up with TV (although not much of it), and she turned out pretty good ;-)
